• Tickets went on sale on New Year’s Day, and while there are still many details yet to be confirmed, here are the things we do know about the festival so far, which will be a momentous occasion for the town’s LGBT+ community.

    1. It will be an all-day festival

    A Pride Parade will take place from 12-1pm, followed by a whole day’s worth of festivities, going on until later in the evening.Run with the support of Crawley Borough Council, the event will go on until 10pm, so there will plenty of time for people to celebrate.

    2. It will go around the town

    The parade will begin at Crawley Town Hall in The Boulevard in the town centre. The celebrations throughout the afternoon into the evening will happen at Goffs Park in South Park.

    The Town Hall, where it begins, is well-connected to public transport, being less than ten minutes’ walk from the station and close to lots of bus stops in The Broadway.

    3. There will be no shortage of entertainment

    The programme is still to be confirmed, but Goffs Park will be filled with stalls and live performers alike. Keep your eyes on their Facebook page for more details about the line up which will feature music and other acts.

    4. It shows an expansion of popular LGBT events around the south

    London and Brighton have long been popular hubs for the LGBT+ community, but things have taken off increasingly in the south in areas that have never hosted such events before.

    Last year saw the first ever Pride in Surrey event, which is returning for 2020.From Plymouth to Reading, there are plenty of places for members of the LGBT+ community to go and celebrate.

    Crawley has long had an under-served LGBT+ community. Although there have been some regular nights over the years, there has never been an all-encompassing celebration like this.Bar 7 is Crawley’s only gay bar and is sometimes referred to as ‘Gatwick’s gay bar’ due to its popularity with cabin crew.Surrey’s first ever Pride event in Woking, August 2019 

    5. A range of tickets are on sale now

    Adult tickets (18+) cost £5, youth tickets (17 and under) cost £3 and VIP tickets, available to over 18s only, cost £15 and allow customers access to a main stage VIP area, VIP bar and separate toilets. It is free of charge for people less than three years old.
